Outbreak After Dark is the monthly after-hours fireside gathering from Infectious Dose, exploring infectious disease through history, folklore, medical mysteries, and the occasional unbelievable story.
Hosted by Heather and her co-host Kate, each episode begins with something strange, unsettling, or unbelievable and separates fear from fact and folklore from science.
Episodes unfold around the fire with themed cocktails, mocktails, snacks, and desserts inspired by the story, with recipes in the companion episode post. Sometimes it’s an outbreak. Sometimes it’s a medical mystery. Sometimes we turn down the lights and tell a story.

A librarian, a master of master’s degrees, and the person Heather runs her angry emails by before sending them. Kate asks the questions you were thinking—and occasionally the ones you absolutely were not
Sam
Sam brings common sense, excellent timing, and a healthy skepticism of whatever nonsense Heather has dragged everyone into. A founding voice of Outbreak After Dark, she still drops by the fire when the occasion demands it.
